Repair Corrupted USB drive/Memory Card

Perhaps after you plug in a USB storage device you see a dialog box that states; “A Media Card has been inserted that contains errors. To correct the errors please use a disk error-checking utility on a computer.” This is not a serious issue. You can probably fix it, but there is the possibility of losing some or all data that’s in your storage. The instructions below describe two ways on how to repair the device, the first may save your data and the second will reformat the drive which deletes all the stored data. Repairing the USB drive / Memory Card instructions:

Plug the USB device in to your computer. Open “My Computer”. Right-click on the appropriate Removable Disk. Select the “Tools” option. Then, click on “Check Now”. Select “Automatically fix file system errors”, and then click on the “Start” button. Formatting USB drive / Memory Card instructions:

Plug the USB device into your computer. Open “My Computer”. Right-click on the appropriate Removable Disk. Select “Format…” Click on the “Start” button. Once the formatting is finished, click on the “OK” button.
